About Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Langtang Valley and Gosainkund Trekking, an adventure that combines the best of Langtang Himalaya region where Himalaya Lungta Treks and Expeditions guide lead you to beautiful and fascinating areas of Central Himalaya.

Langtang Valley and Gosainkund Trekking where first part of the journey takes you to moderate walks with climb to reach at scenic and marvelous valley of Langtang at Kyanjin, the second portion leads you to Gosainkund glacial lake and over the highest point of the adventure to cross a high pass to reach the eastern side of Langtang Himal.

An adventure for beginners and as well for expert walkers where views and scenic environment never tires you with enjoyable and exciting moments on daily walks and staying overnight comfort in nice local lodge.

A journey of little less of two week duration where walk starts after an interesting overland trip to reach at high areas of Langtang Himal around the district of Rasuwa, and stronghold of native Tamang people one of the early mountain tribes that settled around high Central Himalaya.

An interesting walk leads you into deep river gorge covered within lovely forest and then past several nice villages to reach a wide open valley in Kyanjin located at Langtang Valley.

An enjoyable time with rest days at Kyanjin with acclimatization short hike to scenic view points to catch the best of Langtang Himal and other range of peaks with mountains of Tibet across the border.

After Langtang valley our journey leads to impressive Tamang villages interwoven with Buddhism culture and age-old heritage farm life and soon climb takes you high to reach at Gosainkund with its sacred pond.

At Gosainkund where religious festival held every year in the month of August during full moon time, thousands of Hindu pilgrims makes their way here for a holy dip and bathe as well worship Lord Shiva, the main three God of Hindu religions.

From Gosainkund adventure continues with climb to traverse over the highest point of the treks crossing high Gosainkund pass and also called East Laurabinaya-La at the height of 4,609 m.

As downhill walk leads back into dense forest on reaching the eastern side of Langtang Himal range walking on high scenic ridge to follow the trail to reach eastern suburb of Kathmandu valley rim at Sundarijal, a serene wooded place with lovely waterfalls and streams.

Our final walk of the adventure ends at Sundarijal, taking a short drive to reach back to your hotel at Kathmandu, after a most fascination and glorious adventure and experience on Langtang Valley and Gosainkund Trekking.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by Himalayan Lungta staff and guide for transfer to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city around Thamel the exciting place of the city, on checking your rooms meet at the lobby for group briefing regarding treks and other necessary information.

Morning free or join in for sightseeing our city guide takes you around great places of interest with exciting tour around world heritage sites, with time in the afternoon for trek preparation.

Morning having early breakfast taking a drive to reach higher country around Central Himalaya and Langtang Himal within Rasuwa district, located north of Kathmandu.

Journey passes through rural farm villages and towns to reach at Dhunche a major town and headquarter of Rasuwa district, where Langtang National Park entrance located, our ride continues further downhill on zig-zag winding road to reach at Syabrubesi village for first overnight within Langtang Himal.

Enjoying first night around mountainous and high hills, morning walk starts to cross a bridge over Bhote Kosi River that flows from Langtang Himal and Tibet and then climb to a ridge heading past farm villages and into a serene cool forest to reach at Lama Hotel.

Lama Hotel located within midst of alpine woodland in a small clearing, where a native named Lama first established a small Tea-House and lodge for trekkers and trekking staff, since then the name intact till present.

Morning from tranquil forest surrounding walk leads up into dense forest of rhododendron, pines with some bamboo stalks, which makes a perfect habitat for rare endangered Red Panda and other wild-life often spotted on walks.

As walk progress walking by the raging Langtang Khola (stream) to reach Ghode Tabela (means horse stable).

After refreshing stops walk follows into forest for some hours to reach a wide forest clearing at Langtang village, at one time a large place where earthquake of 2015 shook and destroyed the village including other part of the Nepal.

At Langtang village for overnight stop where some houses are still under construction to serve as lodge.

Walk today takes you to our first highlight of the adventure at Kyanjin, a large settlement located within scenic Langtang Valley enclosed by series of high peaks of Langtang Himal range.

From Langtang village after exploring Tamang people interesting culture and traditional farm life with Buddhism religion, walk leads to short hour with climb to enter into a vast valley of Langtang where Kyanjin settlement situated.

At Kyanjin enjoy incredible views of high snow capped peaks and explore its nice scenic surroundings, the valley of Langtang also a grazing fields for Yaks and other cattleā€™s.

A free day to enjoy scenic hike on top Kyanjin Ri or Tshego-Ri where altitude reaches above from 4,773 m to 4,984 m high, which will be the highest spot of the adventure overlooking panorama of whole Langtang Himal range of peaks with some mountains of Tibet across the border beyond Langtang mountains.

Enjoying marvelous time around Langtang valley in the comfort of nice local lodge, where morning walk takes downhill back into dense tree lines to reach at Lama Hotel for overnight stop.

Morning walk on same route for an hour to reach a River Side place with small lodge and shops within bamboo grove, after crossing over a bridge then with steep climb to reach Thulo Syabru, where houses located on a ridge top.

At Thulo Syabru with time to explore around Tamang village with an interesting monastery located on top of the village.

From this nice Tamang farm village walk starts to a steep climb within terraced farm fields and villages, to reach cool shade into coniferous forest filled with tall rhododendron-magnolia-oaks-pines and fir tree lines, heading past cattle herders shelters within grazing field.

Walk continues with last climb, and then on pleasant trail to reach at Sing Gompa also called as Chandanbari (a place with sandal wood trees), at Sing Gompa check into a nice lodge, with afternoon free visit its small cheese factory and old monastery situated on top of the village.

Today morning walk offers great views of Langtang and Ganesh-Himal with Manaslu and Annapurna range in the west, as route climbs higher for an hour walking into rhododendron forest.

Walk past green forest and then climb leads where tree lines fades for short rhododendron, juniper bush as route unwinds heading uphill past few teahouses around small place of Laurabinaya, where short downhill reaches the first lake Saraswati and the Bhairabkund with short climb to our overnight stop within Gosainkund close to its calm pond.

At Gosainkund, where great religious festival held once a year called Janai Purnima (Full Moon) in the month of August, great numbers of Hindu and Buddhists pilgrims throng the lake for a holy bathe, as per Hindu popular belief, a huge rock at the center of the pond at one time had Shiva temple.

With exciting time at holy Gosainkund, where walk leads past the main pond to climb over a creek in between rocks and boulders, as walk leads past smaller ponds where trail winds up to reach on top Gosainkund pass or East Laurabinaya La, the highest spot of the adventure.

From the top with long downhill walk to reach at Phedi (bottom) a place with few teahouses, here for possible lunch break and then continue walk heading east towards Helambu region within green vegetations of junipers, rhododendron to reach at Ghopte (meaning overhanging rocks) for overnight stop.

On being in complete wilderness for some days where morning walk talks you to join Helambu and Kathmandu trails; a pleasant walk into forest with ups and down for an hour with climb on top Thadepatti Hill located above 3,597m high facing views of Jugal Himal range and Ganesh-Manaslu towards west.

From here our route descend to a nice grassy field, and then back into farm fields to reach our overnight stop in Kutumsang, a nice village with Sherpa, Hyalmo and Tamang hill people.

One of the long day walk to reach at Chisapani, as walk leads on the road to Kathmandu as route takes you on winding path with some ups and downhill, past farm areas and villages to reach another lovely village at Gul-Bhanjyang.

Having refreshing stops walk continues on pleasant trail to Pati Bhanjyang village, from here with short climb to reach our last overnight stops at Chisapani, a nice and scenic small village with marvelous mountain views and close to north of Kathmandu Valley rim.

A lovely spot offers striking sunrise and sunset views over range of peaks from Jugal Himal range towards north east and Ganesh Himal-Manaslu and Annapurna range towards west.

Last day walk after catching stunning sunrise over range of peaks, as morning walk continues heading into forest and farmlands to reach a ridge top of Burlang and Chepu Bhanjyang.

From this high spot enjoy views of Kathmandu valley, and the downhill to Sundarijal (means a place with beautiful water), a lovely spot within cool shade of forest with some monkeys and fresh streams.

Finally walk reach down at Sundarijal, a small town from here where drive takes you back at Kathmandu after an enjoyable and great moment on Langtang valley and Gosainkund Trekking, afternoon free and leisure for shopping souvenirs on last day in Nepal.

Last day in Nepal with memorable times and experience on high Langtang Himalaya, as time for your international flight and then depart from the hotel, where Himalaya Lungta staff and guide transfer you to the airport for your flight homeward bound.
